Special Interest Groups will meet on Thursday, April 26, 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm. Room locations will be posted at the conference.

BCG Certification	Elissa Scalise Powell, CG	Learn about the nature and purpose of certification, the application process and requirements for Board certification, and how to prepare if you are interested in applying for certification.
Connecticut Research	Richard Roberts	Do you have ancestors that were from Connecticut or perhaps that passed through Connecticut? If, so then this is the discussion group for you. We will discuss all aspects of conducting genealogy research in Connecticut.
DNA Research and Developments	Melinde Lutz Sanborn	If you want to learn more about DNA research and how it can help you in your family research then this is the research group for you. We will discuss some of the latest developments in this unique and interesting field.
Family Reunion Planning	Debra Wilmes	Come learn helpful information for organizing a family reunion. We will discuss hotel, reunion registration, collecting money, payments, activities, meals, memorabilia, transportation, and research time. Learn what’s involved and share your experiences.
Federal Records at NARA	Walter Hickey	Did you ever wonder how to maximize the wealth of resources at the National Archives? This special discussion group will focus on sharing tips and knowledge on how to make the most of utilizing the National Archives for your research.
French Canadian Genealogy	Patti Locke	Come discuss French Canadian genealogy. We will discuss available resources and go over some tips to help you find your ancestors. Enjoy some French Canadian music during our informal discussion period.
German Research	Leslie Albrecht Huber	Would you like to learn more about the German members of your family tree? If so, then come join this discussion on German Research. Here, you can ask questions, provide tips, and enjoy the company of others who share your interest.
Irish Research	Donna Moughty	Learn about and share your experiences doing Irish Research. We will discuss various records and sources as well as tips and tricks that can help you find your Irish ancestors.
Mac Users Group	Laura Prescott	Bring your PowerBook, MacBook, or what-have-you to this session for genealogists who use, or are thinking about using, a Mac for genealogy. We'll talk about OS X, Reunion 9, pod cards, other genealogy software, multimedia and web applications, and anything else that comes up. Come share your ideas!
Native and African American Research	Vicki S. Welch	Vicki Welch of Seven Generations Research Center invites you to discuss Native and African American Genealogy in New England. Bring your Native and African American research problems to discuss and get help with finding sources to pursue the facts of their lives.
Networking at a Conference	Victoria (Palch) Ryan	Don't be shy, come join the discussion of developing contacts or exchanging information (networking a conference) or share the serendipity of some remarkable experiences from those chance encounters. Vicky is a former NERGC co-chair.
Research in Maine	Helen Shaw	If you have folks who hailed from Maine, come join a group to discuss where to find vital and court records, the problems presented by town and county boundary changes, record preservation efforts, and all things new and old in Maine research.
Scottish Research	Diane Rapaport	If Scottish heritage is one of your special interests, come join this group on Scottish Research (hosted by Diane Rapaport, “Scottish Genealogy” columnist for The Highlander magazine). Make new friends, share research tips and genealogical resources with other people tracing Scottish ancestors, and enjoy Scottish music at this casual gathering.
Slavic Research	Matthew Bielawa & Jonathan Shea	If your family has roots in Eastern Europe then this is the special interest group for you. We will discuss ways to track down and locate your Eastern European ancestors. Join us, make new friends, and exchange tips with other people who share the same interesting heritage as you do.
