Note: If you are a member of a group entitled to a free NERGC 2023 ticket (Speakers, Exhibitors, DHS Award, and Theme Award winners), you will be sent an email with instructions on how to redeem your ticket. Please do not proceed with registration until you have that information.

The Conference Brochure

The 20-page Conference Brochure (PDF) is your complete guide to NERGC 2023, detailing all of the sessions, day-by-day, as well as all the special events. You may want to print it out and circle the sessions you want to attend and the events you want to participate in. With 8 concurrent tracks of sessions, you may have some tough choices to make!

Register Online

When you are ready to register, use our online registration system. The registration system allows you to buy one or more tickets.

Admission tickets come in two varieties: 1) Single Day Registrations for each of Thursday through Saturday, and 2) A discounted three-day “Full Registration” ticket. These tickets give you access to all conference sessions for applicable day(s), except for workshops. They also give you access to the Exhibit Hall and whatever special events take place on the day(s) covered by your ticket(s), such as Society Fair, Special Interest Groups, Libraries, Archives, and Museums Showcase, and Table Topics. All attendees also receive an electronic (PDF) copy of the conference syllabus, containing the speaker handouts.

You can also purchase tickets for optional items such as meals/banquets, conference workshops or a printed copy of the syllabus or a digital copy on a USB stick.

Finally, you can purchase tickets for the pre-conference tracks and workshops on Wednesday, May 3rd.

If you order multiple tickets, such as an admission ticket, meal tickets, and workshop ticket, you will need to enter your name, email address, and other information multiple times, once for each ticket.

You will see a “copy ticket data from” button that can be used to copy information from one ticket to another. This feature works only if you copy info from similar ticket types, e.g., copy meal ticket information into another meal ticket, or conference ticket information into a workshop ticket.

If you need to register more than one person, it is recommended that you go through the online registration system separately for each person.

When you register, be sure to double-check your email address to make sure we have a reliable way to reach you with updates about the conference.

Register By Mail

If you prefer to pay by check, please print out the back page of the brochure, fill that out with your selections, and mail that page, along with your check, to the address provided there. Be sure to send it well in advance of registration deadlines to provide time for postal delivery.

Hotels

We have reserved blocks of rooms for conference attendees at two of the closest hotels to the conference site. More information is on our hotels page.

Deadlines

  • February 15th—The last day of “early bird” discount pricing on the three-day Full Registration ticket.
  • March 26—The last day to order a printed syllabus or a syllabus on a USB stick.
  • April 3—The last day to request accommodations for accessibility needs.
  • April 14—The last day to cancel registrations for a refund (minus $20).
  • April 15—The last day to order meals.
  • April 28th—The last day to register online. If you miss this date, just arrive and register onsite.

Registration FAQs

  1. Does “Full registration” include workshops or meals?
    • No. “Full registration” is a discounted 3-day ticket, providing admission to all regular sessions, Thursday-Saturday. Meals and workshops are extra.
  2. I am a conference speaker, or exhibitor, or other person entitled to free admission. How do I access that?
    • Those entitled to free admission have or will be emailed a discount code to be used during online registration to deduct the cost of their ticket.
  3. I cannot attend NERGC 2023 in person. Is there any way to participate virtually?
    • No. NERGC 2023 will be an in-person conference only. But we are evaluating the feasibility of doing a hybrid conference for 2025.
  4. What if I need special accommodations for my attendance?
    • Please send an email to our ADA coordinator, Dr. Pam Roberts, at [email protected], by April 3, 2023, to arrange for your needs.
  5. I have special dietary needs. How can I specify this?
    • All meals will have a vegetarian option available. If you have needs beyond that, look for and respond to the registration question that asks about special dietary needs.
  6. How do I sign up for Ancestors Road Show or for Table Topics?
    • Attendees will be contacted when we’re ready to start sign ups for these popular events.
  7. Is there a fuller description of the meals?
    • Yes. Here is our current plans for the meals. But please note that we’re 5-months out from the conference, and the the exact details are subject to change. But this should give you an idea of the what we’re aiming for.
    • Wednesday Box Lunch
      • Choice of still or sparking water, choice of chips, choice of cookie, choice of salad, and one of the following sandwiches:
      • Smoked salami, capicola, smoked Provolone cheese, roasted peppers, pickled red onions, red wine aioli on ciabatta
      • Shaved turkey, Swiss cheese, baby greens with sweet grain mustard aioli, caramelized onions on marble rye
      • Roasted asparagus, artichokes, red peppers, olives, sautéed couscous with red onion and hummus in a tomato wrap
    • Thursday Luncheon, an Italian Buffet with the following selections:
      • Classic Caesar salad, garlic croutons and shaved Parmesan cheese
      • Grilled chicken breast with roasted artichokes, peppers, and fresh mozzarella in a yellow tomato sauce
      • Rigatoni pasta with peas, yellow tomatoes and asparagus in sundried tomato cream sauce with goat cheese, and lemon truffle green beans
      • Garlic bread
      • Tiramisu cups and dessert bars
    • Thursday Box Supper is designed to be portable, so folks attending the Society Fair and the SIGs can “grab and go” with it. If you are not participating in these events, this might be a good night to eat out in Springfield.
      • The “Basic Box” includes Whole Fruit, Bag of Chips, Dessert and Bottled Water, and one of the following sandwiches:
      • Turkey and Provolone
      • Roast beef and Cheddar
      • Seasonal vegetable with hummus or pesto
    • Friday Luncheon will be a served salad (chicken or vegetarian), to accommodate Table Topics.
      • Includes ice water, rolls & butter, dessert, coffee/decaf/assorted teas.
    • Friday’s Banquet will include:
      • Choice of meat or vegetable lasagna
      • Salad greens
      • Dessert
      • Ice water, coffee/decaf coffee/assorted teas is included. A cash bar will also be available.
    • Saturday’s Luncheon features the “Mass Mutual Combo,” being your choice of sandwich from:
      • Roast beef, Boursin cheese, caramelized onions, lettuce and tomato
      • Smoked turkey, Brie cheese, basil blueberry compote and spring mix
      • Fresh Mozzarella, Tomato and Basil Pesto with Balsamic Reduction Roasted Vegetables, Hummus and Spinach
      • Also, a soup (t.b.d), a salad (t.b.d), kettle chips, assorted cookie and brownie display, and assorted cold beverages
    • Saturday’s Banquet will include:
      • Choice of seared chicken breast or stuffed haddock
      • House salad, chef select starch & vegetable, ice water, rolls & butter, dessert, coffee/decaf coffee/assorted teas
      • Cash bar will also be available
  8. Will there be a conference app for NERGC 2023?
    • Yes. There will be an app for the conference, for iOS and Android devices. Attendees will be contacted with further information when the app is available, probably in February 2023.
  9. I have a service or product that is of interest to genealogists. How can I make your conference attendees aware of it?
    • We have a range of offerings, from renting a booth in our Exhibit Hall, to taking out an advertisement in our conference packet (the “syllabus”) to sponsoring the tote bag, etc. See our Partners page for more information. We also have opportunities for genealogical societies, and libraries, museums, and archives to participate in the conference.
